This is the first time i see a mig-29 picture shot in China.
At first glance i thought it was a PS job because the PLAAF sign on the tail seemed unnature and kind of ugly, but then i saw the environment and vegetation fits northern China. Can you guys see the white paint at the lower parts of the tree trunk ? That's how we protect trees from insects in China.
Or could that plane be borrowed or exchanged from DPRK for study ? and that can explained the psed PLAAF sign, cause the numbers painted on the intake confused me otherwise, i never saw a chinses plane using that kind of number font. It's like DPRK or old Russian style.
[btw, i am a first timer on this forum, and say hi to everyone]

Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

That mainly concerned with delivery of the planes to customers. If engine issues causing delays are to be expected, then Sukhoi is to be blamed for being unrealistically optimistic of promising an early delivery to customers.
Any which way, certification of the engine and the rest of the certification processes go in parallel. There're two or three other planes to do the rest of the certification not related to the engine. The thing is the few final tests, before the type certification was finally issued, were not engine related. One would expect this to be engine related tests if engine issues were delaying the type certification.
We're off topic, so I think I should really stop here.

This picture has been altered. That is a Romanian Air Force MiG-29.

On what land? China doesn't have enough fertile land to produce enough ethanol for its fuel needs, even if it gave up all food production & imported all its food.
Brazil can produce ethanol at a profit because it has lots of fertile land in proportion to its population.
Imports from Africa are still imports. They're insecure as long as China does not control the sea routes, & that control is not likely.
China will remain dependent on fuel imports unless it can find huge reserves of oil or gas under its own territory or EEZ. Why do you think China is so aggressive in its ridiculous EEZ claims?

Engine was certified in summer of 2010. so production ramp takes couple of years as Snecma and Saturn were knew to each other in coopertion with different cultures and different testing procedures. The point i making it was more challenging for two companies to work together.
It is not GE/Snecma CFM where decades of working together make it smoother.

latest research show it is much more effiecient and cheaper to produce ethanol from algae instead of crop plant.... it dont need vast area so China can do too but it is new biotech and need years before applied on commercial scale...
too late for brazil though, they already destroy part of Amazon with its beautiful specieses....![]()
Im not sure about China surpass Russia and J20 is not 100% stealth too...
but indeed geometry wise it is better stealth solution (than the T50 which is compromised for the superagility). Its simple yet robust shape and size also easier to expand the plane later.
And what I like is the way project developed, not overhyped unlike PAKFA and JSF. little news in aviation leaks few years ago, not much heard about it afterwards, but suddenly it became reality.....Such is maturity we rarely saw today...
Cant wait the operational version....

how about this one

this j-10 is in serbia paint. very nice. more j-10 is built than Rafale and at same number as Eurofighters, but future of j-10 will be longer because eurofighter country near end of production.

ZHUHAI, China | Tue Nov 13, 2012 5:11am EST
ZHUHAI, China (Reuters) - Potentially worth several billion dollars, the orders for China's first commercial passenger jet dominated the first day of the China Airshow, held every two years in the southern city of Zhuhai, along with fresh evidence of China's military ambitions.
The C919 is designed to challenge Airbus (EAD.PA) and Boeing (BA.N) in the largest segment of the $100 billion annual jetliner market.
Tuesday's orders for the 150-seat jet boosted the official tally to 380, reaching the state-owned manufacturer's declared breakeven point of 300-400 orders.
Hongdu's L-15 advanced supersonic trainer aircraft is said to have its first export customer.
I am thinking the internal fuel J-10 carried would be more than 3000kg or a little bit less?
The truth usually between two extremes, the key is when and where.
Considering jf17 carries 2300 kg and f16 carries 3175 kg, then scaling up those figures, both in size/weight and engine thrust to fit what we know of j10 (including the recent disclosure of 1650 km range which has to be with 3 external tanks, and comparing that with similar mission and load for f16) i would say j10 carries between 3000 and 3400 kg of fuel internally.
Using the M2000 (delta wing!) as a basis for scaling produces higher fuel loads that should serve as a useful upper boundary.
After the Hongdu L-15 achieved its first export customer, we are now hearing that the L-15's domestic designation may be the JL-10.
I think this is already confirmed and reportedly the first serial aircraft of that standard had its maiden flight just before the show.

But the 1st batch of L15 from production will be powered by AL222-25 with no afterburner, while what i heard the latest prototype flow with the 25F version of powerplant with afterburner. Hongdu has so far placed order for 40 no afterburner AL222-25, after which will change to home grown 4700 kgf "Mingshan" turbofan engine.
"Mingshan" turbofan engine going to power L12/JL10 trainer
VP of PW shows great interesting in "Mingshan" engine dispayed at zhuhai
