Aircraft Cockpit Sections/Instrument Panel Projects Part 2

    Guys,
Due to the size of the original Aircraft Cockpits thread, I have had to close it down and create a new one.
The old one can be seen via this link for reference:
    http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=46227
Feel free to continue discussing your Cockpit section and Instrument panel projects here.
    Cheers,Peter

Here's my pet project, it's built to wartime specification and is hand cut and not CNC milled. There are quite a few 109 panels out there but what is different about mine is that the whole panel is fully functioning (including the electric horizon) and I will be setting it up so that the electrics and pitot and static system are replicated on the back of the wooden base in a condensed form so that I can 'run' the whole panel.
I am most excited about obtaining a Fuhrertochterkompass so that I can wire it into my Mutterkompass and have a working kompass system but this wont be happening for a little while. I have more items on the way but as the panel is on storage at the moment I won't have access to it for a while

If anyone has some Luftwaffe yellow cable to hand and would like to do some measurements of core size and outside diameter I would be most appreciative! I do have some cable but it is packed away in storage too! I am looking to find a modern replacement to wire the panel up with.

    Thanks

    Vampire Panels

Hello. I have recently had some good fortune in obtaining a set of bare Vampire instrument panels and a stick top so i will try to mount them in their appropriate positions for display and obtain the missing parts.

A couple of instruments came with the panels but only one is intact, a 5c1009undercarriage gauge, but this needs a set of nine bulbs, they are missing from the gauge. Any idea where some could be found please?

Other bits needed to plug the holes are the following:

    De-icer hand pump
Guns firing pushbutton from the D type stick grip
A right hand control box for a single seat Vamp

Please if anyone has or knows of anything which is available please do come forward.

    Thanks you and atb

    rod

happy to post post photos if someone will explain how!

    Hi Vampirefan,
Click on reply, then scroll down a little to 'manage attachments' and click. A separate box will appear, then click on 'browse' to find the pics on your computer etc etc. When you have finished click 'upload'. When you are ready either click 'submit reply' or 'preview post' if you want to check them before you post them. Hope that works.

wooden replica's were to start. HELP!

    wounder if anyone can help..

had an idea for some time now about building a wooden replica of maybe a spifire cockpit fuselage section or somthing similar. more of a cosmtic replic rather than a full detailed replic.
i have seen similar cockpit sections about but were would i go about finding plans for building a spifire? or any aircraft? fuselage cross sections is what i need.
i would really like to have a real forward fuselage section of somthing, but even stripped out shells go for strong money these days and once you add on the total cost to get it up to a static condtions the cost must be in to the many £1000 bit out of my price range!
as said i would only what to it a cosmtic replic.. that looks pleasing on the eye.. not a full detailed replica.anyone done anything simler?
any help and words of encouragement would be appreciated.

Not sure what the number for the bulbs is as sadly i don't have one to check. They were for a 24 volt system though. The gauges appear to be supplied without even from new. I could do with nine bulbs, and perhaps a couple for spare in case I drop one.

Had a nice afternoon at the Helicopter Museum open cockpit day. Now have pics of a couple of missing bits for a Lynx panel. Would very much like a press to cancel button, selector knob and VSI. Leads much appreciated!

Really ? I saw none of the so called Cockpitfest-south winged participants, and only museum cockpits open were a Mil-8 and something else Westland'ish with a big prop on top.

    Utter tosh we thought....
