I think there should be some paperwork arround for it as it was rescued from Thurleigh and some of the people involved there are still in the glider movement.

Prior to sale, seller provided number from paper fuselage square to be SSK/FF/ 13?9
(He says the ? is unreadable)
From my fuselage number research, this would correspond to WT874 1389
There are no other serials in this range.
(I own WT873, which is SSK/FF 1388 which helps prove it)
Guy ( Rapidly aproaching T31 anorak status)
I think there should be some paperwork arround for it as it was rescued from Thurleigh and some of the people involved there are still in the glider movement.
Any idea on what this model is all about?

I once had a very similar model, made by the husband of someone I worked with in my first job.
I don't think it is wartime; there is too much fake trench art around to take a gamble.

Priceless......

Westland Wessex HC.2 XV720, which was discussed on THIS thread http://forum.keypublishing.com/showt...=1#post1854199 when it was seen "road running" recently, turned up at Hixon in Staffordshire, in the "care" of Air & Ground Ltd about two weeks ago.
They are now offering it for sale at £11,940.00. See link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westland-W...#ht_500wt_1109
Word is that the Newark Air Museum were offered this Wessex, about a week ago, with an asking price of £15,000 (less engine). Newark apparently passed on this helicopter, so it is now your chance to acquire it, should you happend to have a spare eleven-and-a-half-grand in used fivers under the mattress. Contact

Thank goodness no,
I already have one. I wonder what the winner is going to do with it.
Start a Halifax cockpit? Anyone know who he is?
37 bidders, it looks like the Halifax is no longer mr underrated.
What's next, another throttlebox?
These things still turn up, so anyone have an Hampden bits?
I can always ask.
Cees
Were you aware of this one, Cees? Any idea where it came from and might it be the one you recall being advertised in Flypast some years back? What's next, another throttlebox?

jumble 'til I crumble!
Yes, I was aware of that one and have made some attempts to obtain it from the RAF Museum, even if on loan at the time. The even have two, the other is a sectioned example for instructional purposes. The Trustees were very clear, they are not a warehouse where you can buy items. I can understand that but having one Halifax and three throttle boxes......
The one advertised in flypast was offered for 65 pounds at the time and was said to have come from a museum. That's all I remember.
Now, any Hampden throttle boxes lying in your garage?
Cees

No throttles but I did have an ammo container for the fixed forward firing gun at one time.
I think I may have sold it, or at least I haven't seen it in a while. I'll have a check in the garage!![]()

Funny you should mention Vampires (or bits of at least). Couple of rudders.

Couldn't be Hornet could it? Looks like the type where the pylon extends ahead of the wing leading edge.

Though they were a mix of platinum and rhodium if memory serves me correctly, often wondered what they would be worth, but i think he has a decimal point failure.
Anyone fancy parting with nearly 15k for the front end of a Tornado F2?

If you don't fancy the 15 grand item above, you could sit under this and pretend

The Halifax column looks very much like the one that was sold by Horners at their December sale in 2010 for £1300.
