Regarding the F-16's capability to carry the AIM-120 on it's wingtip-stations I want to ask if this is possible for the F/A-18 and the JAS-39 too ??
Thanks in advance, Deino :-)

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.
The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Apparently you can't put AMRAAMs on the wingtip stations on an F/A-18. This is because with AMRAAMs on the wingtip stations, you can't fold the wings, the mechanism isn't powerful enough!
So it is compatible then, but there is a weight issue? For land-based users of the Hornet there shouldn't be a problem then.Originally posted by GZYL

Not sure about the land based hornets... I asked the same question about wingtip AMRAAM's a while back, and got that answer on here!
The E/F models of the Hornet are "supposed" to be able to carry AIM-120s on their tips, but to my knowledge has never been tried yet.
Gripens have been seen with a 'thicker' missile on their tips; i am unsure as to whether or not that it was AIM-120.
