Repairs to Yekaterinburg will take at least a year. New hydroacoustic complex will likely have to be built, hopefully will be a new model unit.

RU sure? There are 2 pics now showing the Kuz with AC, each from a different angle but the same number and location on deck. This would suggest a series of PS-jobs, if you are correct. Enlarge the small pic to similar size as the earlier hi-res pic TR1 posted a link for and compare.

Russian Navy to carry out exercise in Mediterranean
A division of Russian Navy ships, headed by The Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft-carrier of the Northern Fleet, has come to an agreement with the Greek military about exercises in the Mediterranean Sea.
The exercises are to begin on the 6th of January, a spokesman for the Greek Central Headquarters reports.
According to the Greek military, the Russian division has not arrived at the site yet. The Russian ships set out on a trip on the 6th of December and carried out several exercises of on-board aircraft. Apart from The Admiral Kuznetsov, other ships of the
Northern, Baltic and Black Sea Fleets are taking part in the trip.

On a random note, I was checking 971 production speeds, back in the day some of the boats in the class were commissioned around 1 year after being laid down....dear lord, talk about churning them out like sausages.

Some superb recent photos of the Big Ole' "Loafs".
Some rumors about 955s, could be BS, could be not BS:
Alexander Nevsky got a hole in its light outer hull, apparently another ship was thrown into it during a storm. Small hole, but still.
Rumors that parts of retired 971 Ak Bars will be used for a 955. Sounds unlikely, IMO, however other rumors suggest 949 sections could be used for the 955Ms. Not sure where these would be acquired, aside from Belgorod.

^^There are also 2 unfinished 949 hulls lying outside sevmash for quite some time.
EDIT: and the usage of bars stuff in borei is also probably true. DIMMI also mentions in his blog that they are used in the third borei Vladimir Monamakh.

Construction of naval structures in Novorosiisk.
Well use of 971 hulls made sense, since a lot of then were laid down right before-right after collapse of USSR and were completed enough to be usefull and cost saving. But Ak-Bars is retired submarine, sounds dubious to me that it would be cut apart and hull used for a 955..what was the reason for scrapping it anyways? Why not use the Irbis, which is in an advanced state of completion for the program?
Regarding 949 hulls, given how different they are from 971, that would require massive redesign no? The "Batons" are huge, the profile would be much wider, not sure it would be worth the trouble. Could probably accommodate more tubes though. What of the Belgorod though? I would think it would be a prime candidate, though if I recall correctly they are thinking of finishing it for special purposes.
