well PAF has done well policing and forcing the the Indian helicopter
just to be on the right side of facts, there was no policing or forcing. the cheetah landed in a pakistani controlled area due to bad weather. once there they were discovered by pakistani camp personnel nearby. more like a stroke of good luck than adept policing let alone forcing (with what one might ask).

DG Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major Gen. Athar Abbas words were "It was forced to land.”

Pakistan agreed with the Indian version that the violation Was caused due to volatile weather and thats why they let them go but that doesnt change the fact that "It was forced to land.”

Here is what Indian News Papers had reported

Indian Army copter forced to land in Pakistan, released

    ANITA JOSHUA

Pakistan allowed an Indian helicopter with four Army personnel on board to return home on Sunday evening; about five hours after it was forced to land in Skardu for violating the Pakistani airspace.

The chopper, which intruded into Pakistan's airspace near Olding in northern Skardu near Kargil on the Indian side, was forced to land around 1 p.m. local time.

Chopper row resolved: Pak returns Indian Army helicopter, crew

Pakistan forces Indian helicopter to land

"Our air defense aircraft immediately scrambled into the air and reached the area and forced the helicopter to land," a Pakistan air force official said.

Lets just say it was bad weather. It does not matter what the truth is. What matters is the need to stop a flame fest.

jawad, we know what ISPR said (which Indian newspapers repeated).

don't you think it is strange he offered *no* details about how exactly that forcing happened ? which valiant fighter pilot or SAM group commander did that ? not to mention the fact that pakistan has next to nothing in that region which can force anything to land, the nearest airbases being 100's of km away.

oh btw, we have heard many things from ISPR, their record is dodgy to say the least. (for example, osama is not in pakistan)

Pakistan air force jet crashes, killing pilot

Pakistan's air force says one of its fighter jets has crashed during a training mission because of a technical problem and that the pilot was killed in the crash. The air force says in a written statement that the jet crashed on Monday near Attock, a town about 40 miles (70 kilometers) west of the capital, Islamabad.

Pilot flying the aircraft was Squadron Leader Muhammad Hussain, his parachute didn't open.

Air Commodore Khalid Mahmood informed the media that JF-17 Thunder as already completed 10,000 sorties in Pakistani service. He added that two squadrons of JF-17 are fully active with the air force and third is in process of being equipped with the thunder and it will be activated in the coming months.

    RIP, sad loss indeed

I think he was one of the pilots who came to Farnborough last year, I spent some time talking with him, great guy and he provided some insightful details on the JF-17.

Not officially out yet, but it was a birdstrike/ingestion leading to an engine fire or flameout. Sqdrn Leader Hussain was trying to get to Kamra in all probability. He would have made it had he succeeded in cresting the hill. Kamra was only a few klicks over.

Advanced avionics helping Pakistan to break militants

According to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) it has flown more than 5,500 strike sorties over the country’s troubled tribal regions since May 2008. In a rare glimpse into Pakistan’s attempt to counter domestic terrorism from the air, the commander of the PAF described some lessons learned to the Air Chiefs Conference here in Dubai on Saturday.
The PAF has completely overhauled its tactics and techniques for the conduct of irregular warfare, Suleiman said. All of the squadrons were put through a training program over a four-month period. Laser-guided bombs have been used in 80 percent of the PAF strikes, the PAF chief revealed. Avoiding collateral damage was a primary concern, he explained, “especially since we were engaging targets within our own country. We engage isolated structures only, away from populated areas.”

More than 10,600 bombs have been dropped, and 4,600 targets destroyed, he said. The PAF has flown more than 500 F-16 sorties with the DB-110 pod, and 650 with the Star Safire EO/IR sensor on the C-130.
Now this is the story that hasn't been retold much. 10,600 bombs in 3 years, that's like 9 bombs a day, pretty intense for irregular warfare.

JDW has confirmed the JF-17 Block 2 will include inflight refuelling probe (they had previously said all would be fitted with probe by 2015), improved frequency coverage for jammer pod and two seat version.

It will also have 'improved avionics', but will remain with the original radar.

It further speculates South African avionics and A Darter in future.
