Brilliant pictures again - XD593/50 DH Vampire T.11, 8 FTS,RAF - now on display in Hangar 1 at Newark Air Museum.
IIRC XD593 was still in those markings when it arrived at Newark in spring 1973!

These pictures were taken at the Battle Of Britain Day, RAF Wyton on September 14th 1963.
Photos by Gerald Lawrance, digitised and made available by Tony Clarke.
Thanks also to Ken Elliot, who has a similar set in colour on AbPic, making my research easier.

What really matters is what you do with what you have.
SKY HIGH
Fabulous collection, lovely quality !
Wonderful images - wall to wall silver paint and orange "dayglo"![]()
Whirlwind HAS7 XK907: The 'nose' survives in open store at Midland A.M. The plan was to create an internal exhibit to mount a locally-produced Alvis Leonides engine.
The machine has relevance as it was, for some years, part of the Alvis 'fleet' based at Baginton used for Leonides testing/development.
Another superb set of images.
Roger Smith.
A Blenheim, Beaufighter and Beaufort - together in one Museum. Who'd have thought that possible in 1967?
Wonderful, many thanks for taking the time to share these with us!
