Ah! Those were the days, Neil. Note the punters strolling casually along the roof of the pier in the PanAm B707 shot.

Is that a LOT Tu134 I see lurking in the background of the BAF Herald shot?

Thanks for the info on your scanner and enjoy thoroughly the last few photos you've posted.I did a quick google on your 4400f and it gets a good write up and seems a good affordable option to go for after viewing the results you've posted.
As for the question of more of the same,"yes please".Thanks....john.B

Excellent shots Neil, have you got any dates for these, we must have stood next to each other at some point. I swear I took the exact same shots with my trusty Zenith-E, before they went off to the great landfill in the sky.

I hate to come over all pedantic, Neil, but that 1-11 is in pre-merger Caledonian livery.

The airline only became British Caledonian (ie, Bcal) after the takeover of BUA in late 1970 and the titles on the aircraft were gradually changed from then onwards.

Afficionados will note the tail of a British Airways VC10, just visible to the right of the Ontario Worldair B707.

I really wish my own slide collection hadn't gone up in smoke.

Nostalgia indeed! This is a marvellous thread and takes me back to the period when I was aloft on business at least once a month, often more, so I "know" these aircraft and airlines very well!
What really matters is what you do with what you have.

Sadly the slides are not Kodachrome...(Fuji film) and the dates are not on them......i didnt put em on them sadly!! and yes we may well have crossed paths or stood in the same position....

Indeed Grey the aircraft is a Caledonian one, not British Caledonian.... my error..

Quite a lot, by the looks of things.
These are all wonderful old aircraft, but my favourite, and the one I would most like to fly on if it was possible, is the TU-134.
    Very Cold War.

I still like to see Tridents with red boxes on the tails.....

Ah! The roof of the Queens Building at Heathrow. Always busy with the public soaking up the atmosphere (and burnt jet fuel fumes)

Cracking shot...just as i remember the Queens Building.....complete wth noisey Trident's, love it brings back many happy memories..thanks for posting.

Here is a closer look at the BEA Red Square aircraft...

PS this photo is pre 1968 as G-ARPT in the background was written off by the crashing Airspeed Ambassodor of BKS during 1968 G-ARPI also had her tail ripped off and was repaired a year later only to be lost in 1972 at Staines...

What a selection in that last pic Neil and I hope your patience and devotion has been rewarded with you getting some of your stuff published.one return without cash reward must be the fact that they are so enjoyed by a lot of people.I haven't been much of a fan of civvy planes but your sort of images and enthusiasm can soon put people in the picture as to why these aircraft have so much interest.

In most of the photos of the 70s era it immediately transports me back to a time I felt safer and more at home in,rather than these war torn times where an insatiable greed by a few has left us reeling. So thanks for posting them and yes send them in when you can as I think retro aviation is going to be the hiding place for most enthusiasts in either civil or military spotting....Thanks..John.B
