I can well remember seeing a trio of Sir Freddie's new A300s, sitting idle at STN for some time, back in the 80s. A sad sight.![]()

Good evening,

It brought football fans for the European Cup Final between Everton and Rapid Wien.

Very nice indeed Peter. I flew on an Interflug IL18 to Tirana in 1987, they were beautiful machines. The condition of the aircraft was immaculate, inside and out.

Good afternoon,

1. D-AMAP, Airbus A300B4-203 at Düsseldorf on June 27th, 1980

Good evening,
I thought it was time to add a few negative scans to this thread. I hope to see more of you out there as well.
1. Turkish Airlines Douglas DC-9-10 TC-JAA, also at Schiphol on June 21st, 1968
2. BEA Hawker Siddeley Trident 1 G-ARPU at Schiphol on April 5th, 1969. Light conditions were not favourable.
3. BEA BAC 1-11-500 G-AVMT, also at Schiphol on April 5th, 1969. Mind the double titling: BEA / Air France
I hope you like them.
Kind regards,
Peter

Very nice shots Peter. Nice to see that JAT Caravelle along with that Trident. I had forgotten that THY operated the 'baby' 9.

Hi Peter, Thanks for that pic. One of my favourite jets, in one of my favourite liveries. It may not be politically correct, but the Caravelle has the grace of a beautiful woman, and could only really have been created by the French.
Neil.

I started this thread with a really dodgy out of focus couple of old scans from some prints I found but was amazed at how the thread just grew. The wealth of peoples talent for this subject came bursting through and just want to say thanks for sharing some of your magic moments from sites from all over the place.
Also the knowledge of these aircraft some people have, and are ready to impart with just to help others all stored up in the old grey cells just ready to use at the click of a button."Amazing".Anyway as reality comes close to me and I hear my wife curse "god however much more B****y ironing left" its my "q" to say thankyou to everyone who posted and I hope will post a few more.![]()
Good evening,
Here are "a few more". I hope you like them.
1. ATL-98 Carvair G-APNH at Rotterdam on April 15th, 1968
2. BAC 1-11 G-ATPL of British Eagle leased to KLM. Also at Rotterdam on April 15th, 1968
3. Convair CV-240 LN-KAP of Polaris, again at Rotterdam on the same day
4. Once more ATL-98 Carvair G-APNH, this time at Rotterdam on April 18th, 1970
Kind regards,
Peter
[QUOTE=Grey Area;1681499]I hate to come over all pedantic, Neil, but that 1-11 is in pre-merger Caledonian livery.
The airline only became British Caledonian (ie, Bcal) after the takeover of BUA in late 1970 and the titles on the aircraft were gradually changed from then onwards.
[QUOTE]
'Caledonian/BUA'?
Great Carvair pictures Peter. I once flew on one of those beasts from OST to SEN in '75, quite an experience. IMO, an aircraft often overlooked in the contribution that it made to the post war British airline history. It was in its time, a novel and practical idea from that great man Sir Freddie Laker.

Love em all and many thanks again to PDZ,..V1..and IF62M.![]()
Vee one, please keep these shots coming! It must be my age, but this thread has brought back so many great memories. As has been said, thanks Eh for starting this one, and to all the other members who have contributed, its great![]()

Civilspotter. I recall that HS748 of CAA being used to calibrate Heathrow's ILS systems in the 1960s and 1970s. It used to fly around joining the ILS from differing angles and altitudes. It was obvious because it kept flying over my home. I think the CAA had another 748 too. Nice photos!
I think we are all having an overdose of nostalgia, IL62m.
Nothing wrong in that of course.
I believe the Sud Est predecessor to the Caravelle was the pre-war Languadoc (four piston engines and lancaster-like tail arrangement). That was used into London Airport after the war by Air France. That was an elegant shape (for the pre-war times) too. I wonder if the same design team worked on the SE-210?
The mind once expanded by a new idea never returns to its original size.
Guess I'll add a few but some of the negs have suffered badly with age.
Air Nauru 737 - this aircraft caused Kai Tak's only runway to be closed on numerous occassions - burst tyres if I recall.
Sterling Caravelle, Philipines Aerotransport Hercules, Transvalair CL44, Transmeridian Air Cargo CL44, Tradewinds CL44, Air Nauru 727.

The pic of the Swiss CL44 has so much interesting aeroplanes in it! Great.![]()
What was the Sterling Se210 doing at HKG ? On lease to someone out that way ?
