Have I really been up nineteen hours....and about the same yesterday....or was yesterday actually today? Knackered!

Thanks to all who supported it and lets hope we can make this work again for the future.

As ever, always a real buzz and friendly atmosphere in a nice aviation location.

Oh.....and I finally got the book!!!

Go to bed Andy - you've earnt it!

Yes, a good day, and John, you didnt get me, good side or no!

Trade was a little slow for me, but I didnt bring a great deal in fairness. Lets hope the tent is full come October.

Really good to catch up with everyone; especially after such a cold winter.

Great day Andy...well done indeed...good organisation, terrific tent coverage, lots of room with plenty going on outside + a lovely bit of weather.
Hope it worked for you and that another one is in the offing.
    Thanks mate...

I would like to say a thank-you to everyone who made it work - the traders, visitors, staff, Shoreham Airport, the local RAFA and ATC....and even those who flew in!

I thought the atmosphere was really fantastic and a real "buzz" about the whole day. Generally, have had nothing but positive feedback from traders and a multitude of visitors who are not personally known to me but who have been fulsome with their comments. As much as a trading event this is very much a social event, too, for those involved in the sphere of historic aviation. Clearly, it is run as a commercial event (it has to be!) but the social aspect of it makes it worthwhile in a way. I admit that I have missed that for the last five years, and it was good to see so many familiar faces.

Amongst the highlights (for me!) was "the" Spitfire book and Brian Freer's excellent display - not to mention Craig Charleston's fascinating stand, the stunning stuff brought over by Belgian traders and a virtually complete Me410 cockpit canopy on a trailer outside the tent. Almost like the old days!

Thank you again. I was merely the facilitator. You all made it work!

Sorry for the delay in adding my comments - it was a long drive back to Cumbria.

We didn't sell much and came back with more aircraft parts than we set out with - But my son and I both had a good day!

It was our first Shoreham Aerojumble and in our opinion it was both well organised and a very friendly event.

Thank you Andy for your hard work in setting it up and for making it run so smoothly.

Also enjoyed meeting so many people that we only know by name on here.

PanzerJohn and Andy - thank you for the photographs and comments.
    Kind Regards,

    Brian

    Hi Andy,
I agree with the positive comments. This was my first experience of this type of event and I thought it was a great day.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with people that I hadn't seen for a while.
I have even started to smuggle my purchases into the house (obviously one at a time!).
Can I also say a big thanks to the chap in the landrover who jump started my wife's car ( I had left the lights on) and enabled me to get to work on time.
Cheers once again for an enjoyable day out.

Thanks to Andy for bringing this event back to life, it was the first place I ever bought a "Spitfire part" and its just a fantastic event. I bought a stack of really great stuff which you dont see on ebay, not to mention saving hundreds in postage. I really hope Andy can keep this going, so if you didnt get there this time make sure you attend the next event.
I didnt sell my ORIGINAL K5054 prop ???????????????

    A big thank you!

    Hello Andy,

Thank you for putting this event back on the calander. Hopefully the start of a new era of aerojumbling!

I lost count of the people I knew and spoke too over the day, which is something that e6ay will never replace.

BTW, I spotted (and bought) a part for the Hornet cockpit. It was type specific, and likely to be the only one in existence, as per most of the other parts I've located over the years.

See you on the 1st October,

I had a great day and came away with some nice bits of Whitley - thanks Air Ministry and Ian!

Pity some northern traders stayed away - the price of fuel was a factor for some at least...

Cees - the Halifax panel wasnt for sale - the owner brought it from Belgium to pick up some instruments to help complete it...

    My Favorite piece

Had to share this one, my favorite purchase of the day. It was sold as an experimental bullet proof screen for a MKI Hurricane and i am sure it will spark some debate. Its certainly a rare and original piece soaked in huistory. I can tell you its pretty heavy and would have cost a good few pounds in postage!!!

I hope the Whitley bits help Elliott, hopefully more to come. After a bit of mix and match a couple of your P51 link chutes fit splendidly. The tracking needs a little bit of tlc/light hammer work though. Looking forward to October but have pretty much cleared out the loft so probably just buying...

Andy its much rarer than that, this is the very screen tested by Tuck and Bader, have just found their signatures inside the frame ! :diablo:
Have been after a Tiffy rocket for years, cant believe I found one with an original warhead, try buying a bad boy like that on ebay!!! once again it also weighs a ton no wonder German tanks were scared of them.

That very same Typhoon rocket with its original warhead had stood outside my office door for months not long ago. Couldn't get rid of the damned thing. If only I knew you were interested.....!!!

Its probably the best bargain of the day for me, although the body and fin are repro the warhead is as you say is totally original and thats the important bit. I bought it on spec accepting the sellers description and was very pleased when it was confirmed as Tiffy by Mr B, I hate to tell you this but would have happily paid 4 times what i got it for.

Just to add my bit..really great day out, well done Andy. Nice to meet up with old faces not seen for many a long year.

Sort of brings to mind the words of an old song, 'You dont know what youve got till it's gone'

    Roll on the next one.

Your First World War flight suit with Fug boots was an impressive purchase indeed!

Sorry that I couldn't diferentiate between your stall number A17 or A19 by the way and that you were caused some minor panic when you found someone set up on what you thought was your stall!!!

I think I must have had too long a night that night...or too many beers. Or both.

    A belated contribution from me.

A very well organised event. Very impressive to see safety tape, hi-vis jackets, walkie-talkies etc, and what a swish marquee, I believe the Royal couple have got it booked for their reception.

And an undoubted success on every count. I had a very good day but I have to remind myself that I was selling off a bit of the family silver so it was not really representative of a normal 'jumble. Without those extra sales it would have been a good, but not brilliant result.

I believe another book launch by some old blokes might have stolen the show a bit but Volume 4 was unveiled and seems to have been well received - it was a sell out anyway!

I've already expressed my concerns to you about going straight into a twice-yearly format when the economic situation is so fragile, but we'll see what happens in October: I can't be too concerned because I've already booked it!

As long as fuel isn't £2 per litre....

    Air Min - many thanks!

I understand the concerns about twice a year, and I may well revert to that after firmly re-establishing the event in the calendar. Part of the reason for doing 1st October is that (provisionally!) I have found another party to do a back-to-back booking with the marquee - ie us on the Saturday, them on the Sunday. My plan is to try to achieve this in future. It makes much more sense financially, as it is a huge cost.

Thanks as ever for your support.

I will be sending you an e-mail or pm as I need a copy of your new book...plus a couple of other items. Didn't have time on Saturday as it was so hectic.

By the way, having sat down and counted the pennies and looked at my costs I can safely say this was a success after the previous three some years ago which only broke even after many years of succesful trading. So...may the trend established Saturday continue, whether it be twice or once a year. Probably the latter in 2012.

Just to add to the positive comments, I too had a really enjoyable day, sorry to those I didn't catch up with on the day but I was called away to the museum, otherwise I would have stayed longer, I must have walked around dozens of times, each time seeing something different.

I personally thought this was a huge success and I managed to part with some hard earned money. One of my acquisitions was a mint MK 1A bomb container as used in most Bomber Command Aircraft, no not a pig trough! certainly got some strange looks as we carried it back to the car, it will be a nice addition to the bomber section in the museum.

Long may it continue and certainly more fun than ebay! well done Andy and to all those that made it happen.
