Thats the thing Fed there are a few things which, for me, give me a lot of hope if we can just get them right. There are 2 key programs which need to be well delivered and, if they are, the rest follows....thats CVF and MHPC. CVF is the core of the fleet and MHPC, if they get it right, can sweep up a lot of the ancillary, on-station, tasks that we are currently pushing escorts at.

No matter what happens we arent going to get the extra hull numbers Jon seems to think could be a reality 'if only....'!. The opportunity does exist to get more out of the projects we have got cleared as coming through the system and to build on them though. Shame some people get so wrapped up in their narrow little agenda's they cant see that.

Bemused is a good word Fed. You can see he's too wrapped up in his victims agenda to let go of the belief that we'll get more ships/planes/tanks if only something...anything can be found to be sacrificed. He understands theres no connection, but, has a need to believe that there must be just some way, any way, to get the numbers back up and his chosen lamb to be offered up is the deterrent.

The irony is that its men with his kind of mindset that have put us in the position we are in with short hull numbers!. Too much willingness to see capabilities stripped away and no thought for the impact. No ability to see the long view and too much preoccupation with where we are. I'm done with him mate good luck!

I've got to admit I dont quite know how to take him. For blasting off on spurious tangents and making the most incredibly tenuos connections imagineable there is no-one to touch him. I sometimes cant tell if he's very, very smart and goading me or incredibly stupid and being sincere!. It usually seems to resolve as the latter tho!.

The saber rattling thing is tremendous, but, the real champ on that thread is Tango in my opinion. That last post of his had me nearly on my knees laughing. Just after our friend Star bangs on about the power and intimidation of the mighty Russian Black Sea Fleet we have a post that sees the Ukrainians inviting a US ship straight into the middle of the home of the Black Sea Fleet with not a care what the Russians think about it. Dear god I thought I was going to prolapse!.
