About The Navigator
Biography:
My name is Richard, I'm 63 & have spent most of my life in engineering related work, from repairing lawnmowers to preparing competition cars, I also spent a few years competing in car rallies. My interest in historic aviation began when I saw my first Spitfire actually flying, PS853 at Weston Park in 1976, where a couple of years later, I was privileged to meet Sir Douglas Bader. I also spent some time as a civilian instructor with the RAF VR(T), teaching air cadets principles of flight & navigation (hence my forum name). At the time I was getting in a few hours dual on Cessna 152's & a 150 Aerobat (great fun!). Coincidentally my instructor was a former Spitfire PRXIX pilot. I am a long standing member of Lincolnshire's Lancaster Association & The Catalina Society. I now maintain Classic Cars & I am a semi-professional aviation artist. Favourite things: Historic Aircraft, Classic & Vintage cars, Wild animals, the smell of burning Castrol 'R' & a good Malt Whisky!
