There is no simple answer to this question.
MoD wants to extend life of MiGs but airframes are worn-out. Recently one of the MiGs on Tactical Leadership Programme in Spain caught fire in the engine and all fleet was grounded. There is a lot of politics in the background (if MiGs stay in service military works will have contracts to overhaul them). At the same time Ukrainian radar and IRST are evaluated on one of the airframes.
Corran, what is the latest on the MiG-29 fleet in Poland. I read somewhere they intend to operate them for a really long time- what is the current time frame, and numbers planned?
