Hi WF, Jest trolling around, --drawn blanks everywhere looking for Wyvern bits, wish you best of luck in your endeavours. Bill T.
G'day mate, greetings from 'Down-under' The name is Doug Mansfield and, although I'm ex RAF, I to, love the Wyvern. As a recreational pilot (Jabiru LSA55) I have had thoughts of building a 70% scale replica S4 and flying it under our amateur experimental category. A couple of issues crop however. 1. Our rules state only one engine and one propeller. This is to avoid asymmetric flying assuming the engine drives two props via chains or belt, ie Wright Flyer. 2. Retractable u/c. There's some confusion, for me at least, as to whether this is legal or not. Anyway, the cost of designing and building such a plane is too high for me at the moment so I've opted for something a little easier: http://www.recreationalflying.com.au...ltralight.html Keep up your 'good work' to preserve as much as possible of an under rated aircraft. Pity Yeovil's example is so precious that it can't be put back in the air. All the best, Doug aka 'Deskpilot'
Hi again Rob, I forgot to say in my last that it didn't surprise me that you hadn't seen the tiptank photo before. This has been the only one that I have come across, it is incidentally WL 884. These were fitted at Yeovil and flight tested in April 1955. Incidentally do you have a copy of the BARG group's ' History of the Wyvern'?
