Dean: I literally just got back from lunch with a friend who I gave a box full of Hawker and Bulldog drawings to scan! All part of a process to try get all the groups on this planet to pool resources so we can reproduce or restore more aircraft that are neglected. I have a huge pile of Glad drawings. Jack Bruce, when he was Keeper of Aircraft at RAF Museum, was kind enough to get me copies of a lot of documentation they had on file - manual photocopies, copies of micro-fiches they had and such. The easiest way to work, at this stage is just compare drawing numbers and titles and drawing dates to try get a handle on what is the duplicates between us and what we might want to exchange to try round out the "collections". I'll start compiling an elctronic list of all the Siskin stuff I have (I need to do it anyways so this is a good time to start). How does that sound? What are the five drawings you have, even to know that the drawing numbers are different would be exciting. I could quickly make a list of drawing numbers I have: M2311E SISKIN 5 GA SP1627 SP1862 SP1864 SP2652 SP2725 SP2736 SP2747 SP2844 SP2899 SP2943 SP2962 SP2987 SP3129 SP3176_17Apr23 SP3176_18Jul24 SP3216 SP3372 SP3382 SP3406 SP3427 SP3472 SP3706 SP3763 SP3795 SP3914 SP4097 SP4098 SP4320 SP4323 SP4451 SP4925 SP4965 SP5084 SP5086 SP5107 SP5116 SP5212 SP5271 SP6141 SP6143 SP6146 SP61838 SP6214 SP6240 SP6501 SP6699 SP6810 SP6814 SP7534 SP80762 SP90290 SP90317 SP90355 SP90356 SP90665 SP90671_Issue 2_1 SP90671_Issue 2_2 SP90672 SP90674 SP90700 SP90701 SP90702 SP90703 SP90707 SP90709 SP90718_Issue 1_1 SP90718_Issue 1_2 SP90781_Issue 4_1 SP90781_Issue 4_2 SP90908 SP90909 SP90910 SP90911 SP91702 SP91790 SP91867_Issue 1_1 SP91867_Issue 1_2 SP91868 SP91869 SP91909_Issue 1_1 SP91909_Issue 1_2 WTM107 WTM108
Hi Bill, I will get a list together, there are perhaps only 5 or so bluepints, I'm afraid I dont have a scanner so I can only do photographs or photocopies. The majority of the drawings are for the Gladiator, including a colour scheme fo a Met Flight Gladiator. Let me know how you would like to tackle this. Thanks for contacting me, nice to hear from you! All the best, Dean
Dean: I only just discovered this forum while looking for a Gladiator photo to help a fellow Oz understand how complicated an aircraft this is to build. When I searched for my favorite the Siskin, I bumped into a wealth of info that didn't exist only a few years ago! I too have managed to stumble into having a surprising collection of between the war blueprints. The problem is that only people like us can easily get this info out to others - manufacturers are tied up by paranoia about liability and museums are happered by beaurocrats. Could we exchange lists of drawings to try catalogue what we have and try complete sets for particular types. I have a very large collection of Gladiator drawings and Bulldog and everything Hawker-Siddeley had for A-W Siskin and related types. Cheers, Bill
